Minnesota Valley Riders Saddle Club (est. 1964)
The club was formed in 1964 when fellow horse enthusiasts got together and established the Minnesota Valley Riders (MVR). In those days they organized numerous trail rides. By 1967 MVR held its first Memorial Day Horse Show, a club tradition that has grown in popularity and continues to this day. In 1974, MVR joined the Mid-State Association of the Western Saddle Club Association (WSCA). Over the years, MVR has established a long-standing tradition of its members representing the club in local, regional and state competitions as well as serving as WSCA Royalty. Some past notables include:
Today, MVR continues its tradition of family oriented activities for its members including regularly scheduled trail rides, potlucks, fund-raisers, hay-rides, Belle Plaine's Annual BBQ Days parade and exhibition show, Spring and Fall Fun Shows. Each winter MVR holds its annual awards banquet in recognition of that year's achievements and to enjoy the fellowship of its members both young and old alike. MVR also organizes and supports one of the more well-attended open shows in the area on Memorial Day every year as well as occasional clinic offerings including horsemanship, driving or showmanship and many other activities in support of horses, horsemanship and our surrounding community. MVR meets at 7:30PM on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at Neil's Pub in the Rustic Room in downtown Belle Plaine. If you are interested in joining MVR we welcome you to attend one of our monthly meetings.
